5 THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE CALLING TO SCHEDULE YOUR HEADSHOT SESSION

If you're planning to schedule a headshot session, there are a few things to consider before calling to book your photoshoot. Here are 5 things to think about before scheduling your headshot session:

  1. Where will you be using your images? Before you book your headshot session, you should clearly know where you will be using your images. Will it be for your LinkedIn profile, as a book cover, personal website, social media platforms, or business cards? Knowing this information will help you determine the style of your headshot and the attire you should wear.
  2. What color backdrop will you need? Consider the type of background you want for your headshot. Does your company require a specific color, or do you have a preference? A professional photographer typically has various backdrop options, but discussing this in advance is best.
  3. Is it time to schedule a hair appointment? If you're due for a haircut or color, scheduling an appointment a week or so before your headshot session is best. You want to ensure your hair looks its best and reflects your professional style.
  4. Do you have clothing you love that fits correctly, or do you need to go shopping? Choose clothing that reflects your professional style and is comfortable to wear. You don't want to feel self-conscious during your headshot session. If you have nothing appropriate, consider shopping for new outfits in advance. Remember that wearing something more form-fitting looks better in camera than loose, flowy clothing.
  5. Do you need more than just a headshot? Consider whether you need branding images or additional photographs to showcase your professional brand. You may want to consider an on-location photoshoot, which can capture a broader range of images in various settings to showcase your work.

Considering these five factors before scheduling your headshot session will help prepare you for discussing the details with the photographer. This will help you have the best possible experience during your shoot.
